HERBAL DRUG TECHNOLOGY

Herbal Drug Technology is 5 years Add-on course sponsored by UGC. The total amount sanctioned to this course is Rs. 10 Lakhs. Under this course, the certificate, diploma and advance diploma courses are offered. Students will study as per the prescribed syllabus. Examination will be conducted as per the University guidelines. Eminent Professors are being invited to deliver their special lectures as per the syllabus for the students. The course involves field trips, dissertation and Project works. After the completion of the course students will be placed in any well-renowned pharmaceutical industries and Organic Research Laboratories. The course is only for the students of UG and PG students of Sahyadri Science College.

    MUSHROOM CULTIVATION

    Mushroom is a nutritious vegetarian delicacy and has many verities. It is easily digestible as well. Most of them are edible. It contains many vitamins and minerals but very low on sugar and fat. It can be grown in a temperature between 200-300 C and required relative humidity is 55to75%. Market for mushrooms is growing in many developing countries rapidly because of their nice aroma, subtle flavor, nutritious values and special taste. Mushrooms have very short life after harvesting and hence they are sold in fresh form. Their shelf life can be enhanced by processing them. Processed mushrooms are packed in special quality polythene bags or canned. Their huge marketing potential necessitates the requirement of skilled personnel and hence this programme .

    MICROPROPAGATION TECHNIQUES FOR COMMERCIAL CROPS

    The objective of plant propagation via tissue culture, termed micropropagation, is to propagate plants true-to-type, that is, as clones. Plants obtained from tissue culture are called microplants and can be derived from tissue cultures.

    Strength of the program

    The program lays more emphasis on hands-on-training. It gives a thorough practical exposure in handling most of the principally used techniques in the fields. The course is a highly skill oriented program.
